Silvia Fontana
Head of HR HQ | Medici Senza FrontiereSilvia has an integrated profile with experience in profit and no profit sectors in HR, FIN and Operations. Former coordinator in conflict and post conflict zones for major international organizations (MSF, World Bank), she supported MSF as Human Resources and Finance coordinator for the Covid 19 response in Italy before taking the role of Head of HR HQ for MSF Italy. Her extensive experience in developing and managing complex projects is accompanied by strategic vision, an innovative mindset and advanced skills in research, impact evaluation, project design, people management and change management. She is contributing to structural changes in her organization and in the MSF movement as member of the D&EI working group at local and international level and as project board member of the New Working Environment and Digital Transformation initiatives. She started her professional path in finance and asset management, working for leading companies in the profit sector (Pirelli, AEW Europe) before shifting to the no profit. Additionally, in terms of civic engagement, Silvia is board member of Forum della Meritocrazia, an Italian association promoting a culture of merit, inclusion and diversity in Italy. She coordinates the academic board of the Valeria Solesin Award and she is part of the Talents' Incubator programme, a mentoring program for youth. At academic level, she collaborates with Italian universities as lecturer on sustainable developement, humanitarian aid and cooperation. She has an academic background in Human Rights, Society and Multilevel Governance (PhD @ Padua University), Economic Development and Public Policy (MIDP @ Duke University) and Business Administration and International companies management (Bocconi University with honors). She speaks Italian, French and English & loves hiking and cross-country skiing.
