Edson Barreto is CHRO at Degas, a technology company that combines a farmer finance platform connecting smallholders to credit, inputs, and markets with a geospatial AI business that develops foundation models trained on satellite imagery. With operations across Africa and a $100M investment in AI-powered agriculture, Degas sits at the intersection of technology and human impact, a context where questions about automation, agency, and voice are lived daily.

A psychologist by training with a Master's in Strategic People Management, Edson later completed the People Analytics program at the University of Cambridge and an Executive MBA at Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University). Over 17 years, he has built People departments from scratch eight times and led 40+ global transformation projects across Energy, Retail, Sustainability, and Agriculture in 60+ countries. He created the Ocean Method, a People Analytics methodology that connects people data to board-level business decisions, and is a founding member of the Society for People Analytics.
